On the Road and at the CMA Awards
Love and Theft: On the Road and at the CMA Awards
This
last weekend with Jason Aldean was a blast, as could be expected. And
although we were in Missouri and Nebraska, the weather was fantastic!
In both cities, we made time to play some basketball in the afternoon
before the show, and both days, Chris, our drummer, beat me several
times. He's either really good, or I'm not that good -- but most likely
a combination of the two.
It's been amazing to see the reaction we're getting. Even from
the beginning of these dates with Jason up to now, we've seen more and
more excitement from the crowd, more and more people singing along to
"Runaway" and even to the other songs from the album, which absolutely means the
world to us! When I can hear the people in the front row yelling and
singing -- even with my little earbud monitors in -- THAT'S how I know
they're being loud!
We posted a
video of Eric's Kearney, Neb., dressing room antics on our Twitter yesterday.
It's rather amusing, and you may wanna check it out! What I didn't
catch on film was Eric's attempt at playing Matt's fiddle before the
show in the dressing room. It's hard for me to really put into words
the sheer horror I feel even now when recalling the incident, but let
me use an ironic understatement: It was bad.
It's strange. Sometimes I sleep better in my bunk on the bus
than I do in my own house. I suspect it's the rumble of the road. (I'm
on a very bottom bunk ... the only way to go!) We love being on the
bus. We love traveling and seeing all these cool random places and
meeting so many people.
Tonight (Nov. 11), we host the CMA Awards' pre-telecast. We
get to hand out the CMA broadcast awards which honor the broadcast
personalities and stations of the year, along with the national
broadcast personality of the year. So check us out tonight, and we'll
see you on the road!
