Love and Theft Blog: Goodbye to Jason Aldean Tour
This past weekend was our last with Jason Aldean and his crew, and although we were pretty bummed about that, with that in mind, we went out with a bang! The first night of the run brought us to Hattiesburg, Miss., and it may have been my favorite night Love and Theft has ever spent on the road! The crowd was rowdy, the floor was dirty, the weather was cool and the music was loud. After the show was when things really took off. We went from the venue to a local club where we were treated to another rowdy crowd. As Jason took the stage, we followed, and the whole bar was singing along the whole time. It was a party! Once the club cleared out, we hung around, and then something magical happened. The club was attached to a bowling alley which was closed, and we all went in and bowled with the whole place to ourselves. Bowling, victory dances and hot orange and yellow bowling shoes ... it all boils down to a lethal combination. It was one helluva night, and I'll never forget it!
The whole weekend had a bit of that feel to it as if we've gotta squeeze every last drop outta this. These shows on the Wide Open tour have been nothing short of amazing, and we wanted to savor this last weekend and our time with the fellas who have become very close friends of ours.
Night two in Bossier City, La., was awesome -- a great show and a "parking lot party" for a while before we left that night. That show was particularly fun because a couple of buddies from high school and college came out to see the show and hang some. It's always fun to invite people into our little touring world for an evening. I mean, who doesn't love a good loud concert?
The last night, in Southaven, Miss., outside Memphis, my two younger sisters, my dad and my uncle all came to see us. It was the first time anyone from my family got to see a show on this tour, and it meant so much to have them there. It made the whole thing incredible and topped off the perfect final weekend.
A few things to mention about Jason's crew and show: First, they are all some of the nicest guys we've ever worked with, hands down, and you don't always find that out on the road. We were lucky to make friends and watch great musicians. Secondly, their show is simply unbelievable. (If you haven't seen it, put it on your immediate to-do list! We made sure to watch it every single night.)
It's hard to convey all the small things that made this whole experience what it was, but suffice it to say, I'll certainly remember this for the rest of my life, and I feel so blessed to do what I do.
